FairShift
How it works

From scattered preferences to a schedule that explains itself.

Four steps. No implementation consultants, no module licensing, no whiteboard. Here's the whole loop.

01

Everyone sets their preferences

Each person marks the shifts they prefer, can cover, and want to avoid, plus hard constraints like time off and availability. It takes a couple of minutes on their phone, and it replaces the endless request emails.

The fairness engine builds a full draft

FairShift solves the whole schedule at once: coverage first, then preferences, then who's owed from prior cycles. One click produces a complete, balanced draft, with the contested shifts already resolved using the equity ledger.

03

Every shift comes with its reason

When someone asks "why me?", the answer is already there. FairShift shows the logic behind each assignment: the preference honored, the balance settled, the coverage need met. Nobody has to take the schedule on faith.

Why this shift?
You're on Tue the 8th because you marked it Available, and you're owed from covering Christmas.
Why not Sat?
You worked the last two Saturdays. Someone else was further behind on the ledger, so this one settles it.

The ledger carries into the next cycle

It doesn't reset. Whoever carried the hard shifts this month is first in line for the ones they asked for next month, and each person can see their own record of it.
